Complete 2026 Honda HR-V Trim Levels Buyer's Guide: LX vs. Sport vs. EX-L Feature-by-Feature Comparison

The 2026 Honda HR-V is an excellent family car with a spacious cabin, reliable performance, and top safety ratings. But which trim is best? This guide explores the LX vs. Sport and EX-L to help you choose the right one for your family.

2026 Honda HR-V Trim Lineup Overview

The new HR-V comes in just three trim levels: LX, Sport, and EX-L. Features get better as you move up the lineup and all-wheel drive is available on all trims. The Sport trim offers the best value, in our opinion, as it includes more standard gear than the base, such as 18-inch black wheels and remote start, while remaining competitively priced.

Engine Performance and Fuel Economy Across All Trims

Every Honda HR-V comes with a gasoline 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 158 horsepower. It pairs with standard front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), but all-wheel drive is optional. Front-wheel drive is the most efficient, rated at 26 mpg city and 32 mpg highway. This makes it a reasonable choice for everyday driving and longer highway commutes. Choosing all-wheel drive, however, drops the rating to 25 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, but may be worth it if you often drive in wet or snowy weather.

LX Trim

The LX trim offers essential features and great value. It has the same 158-hp 2.0-liter engine as the rest of the lineup, along with 17-inch pewter gray alloy wheels, a 9.0-inch touchscreen, and wireless smartphone compatibility. All-wheel drive is available.

Sport Trim

Choosing the Sport trim gets you improved styling and convenience. It adds larger 18-inch gloss-black alloy wheels and unlocks features like a blind spot information system with cross traffic monitor, smart entry with walk away auto lock, and remote engine start. Passengers who prefer a higher level of comfort may enjoy the heated front seats.

EX-L Trim: Premium Features and Luxury Appointments

The top EX-L trim adds premium features. This includes 18-inch machine-finished allow wheels with Berlina Black inserts and parking sensors, which is ideal when parking in tight spaces or city streets. It also adds leather-trimmed seats, a moonroof, a driver's seat with 8-way power adjustments, and dual-zone automatic climate control for those in the back.

Technology, Safety, and Interior Space Comparison

Every model comes with a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a wireless smartphone charging pad. Cargo and interior space is the same across the lineup. It's only the additional tech that shows the differences. The base trim includes standard safety tech, but Sport adds a blind spot monitor and EX-L adds this along with parking sensors.

Which 2026 Honda HR-V Trim Should You Choose?

If you're a budget or first-time buyer, the LX offers all the essentials you need. If you're a commuter or have a small family, we recommend the Sport as it adds extra comfort at a reasonable price point. If you want luxury, then the EX-L is for you with its premium appointments.
